PRODUCT CARE AND PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS

Casegoods Product Care

Finishes

Daily: For daily dusting, use a clean, slightly damp soft cloth and wipe in the direction of the wood grain. Dry with another soft cloth.

Monthly: Use a quality cleaner or flax soap specially formulated for wood furniture. Dampen, do not saturate, a soft cloth with the cleaning solution, and wipe the surface. Dry with a clean cloth. Oils and ammonia should never be used on the wood furniture.

Drawer Glide Lubrication

Drawer glides are lubricated for life of slide, but on occasion, lubricant needs to be applied to reduce the amount of friction when opening and closing the drawer. Accuride recommends Castro EP2 Lubricant, available at automotive stores or any petroleum jelly can be used.

Drawers

Manufactured of multi-ply hardwood and engineered wood, our drawers were selected for hardness, tightness of grain and resistance to splinters. A highly durable UV Coating has been applied that is resistant to marks and inks. Water-based stains can be wiped out using a mild soap and damp cloth. Any household cleaner may be used, however, avoid any petroleum or thinner-based cleaner.

Hardware

We recommend using an acrylic type cleaner for all brass, antique bronze and chrome-plated metal parts. Again, avoid using any petroleum or thinner-based cleaner.

Humidity Control

A stable environment is important for the care of your product. Fluctuations in humidity and temperature cause panels and solid wood components to expand and contract leading to panel warping and finish problems. ECF recommends humidity levels of 30%- 50%. Avoid levels of less than 30% and prolonged exposure to dry heat during winter months.

Cushion Care

Our 1.8 density high resiliency (HR) foam cores are environmentally friendly, containing no ABA’s or CFC’s. Also there are no PBDE’s and we use Halogen free fire retardants. While foam will soften, it should not lose resiliency or the ability to recover from compression. Polyester wraps, used to create surface softness, will, over time, lose some of the initial loft, which may contribute to cushion flattening and wrinkling. This is normal.

You can prolong cushion life and keep your cushions looking fresh by turning and rotating them regularly. You may also want to regulate the cushion core and polyester wrap by unzipping the casting and adjusting the fit of the core and polyester wrap. We do not suggest removing the cushion core from the casting.

Metal Components

Daily

For daily cleaning, wipe down with clean cloth. This keeps dust from building up and catches spills. If something spills on the metal, make sure to wipe it up immediately to cut down on corrosion and staining.

Monthly

To easily remove rust and clean up dark spots that build up over time. The dark spots on metal can easily be brightened up with an application of one of a number of products, including alcohol, vinegar, WD-40, baby oil, or Lime Away.

Tarnish

Green tarnish can build up on nickel plating with relative ease. To remove it, apply a little WD-40 directly on the stained area. Let it sit for about a minute before scrubbing the spot with a patch of fine steel wool, using small circular motions. You should not clean the entire surface of the nickel plating in this manner, however, since steel wool can scratch and damage nickel plating if not used properly.
